Custom Design Process Guide

FOR LOCAL CLIENTS (In-Person Service)

STEP 1: Initial Consultation

Timeline: Week 0

  • Schedule your consultation appointment $50 (A non-refundable consultation fee that goes towards your grand total)

  • Duration: 45 minutes - 1 hour

  • What happens:

    • Meet in studio to discuss your vision and event details

    • Review inspiration photos and design ideas

    • Take full measurements (bust, waist, hips, length, etc.)

    • Examine fabric swatches and material options

    • Discuss timeline, budget, and design complexity

    • Review policies and pricing structure

  • What to bring:

    • Inspiration photos/Pinterest boards

    • Event date and details

    • Budget range

    • Any specific fabric/color preferences

    • Undergarments you plan to wear with the dress

STEP 2: Design Proposal & Agreement

Timeline: Within 3-5 days after consultation

  • Receive detailed design sketch and fabric recommendations

  • Review itemized quote including:

    • Labor costs

    • Estimated fabric and material costs

    • Timeline with fitting dates

    • Total estimated investment

  • To proceed:

    • Approve design and quote

    • Sign design agreement

    • Pay 50% deposit to begin work

STEP 3: Fabric Selection & Sourcing

Timeline: Week 1-2

  • Final fabric selections made together (in-studio or virtual)

  • Swatches provided for your approval

  • Materials ordered and received

  • Production officially begins once all materials arrive

STEP 4: First Fitting - Construction Phase

Timeline: Week 3-4 (varies by complexity)

  • Dress is partially constructed (muslin or actual fabric)

  • What happens:

    • Try on the piece to check fit and proportions

    • Assess silhouette and overall structure

    • Make adjustments to fit, length, neckline

    • Confirm embellishment placement if applicable

  • Duration: 30-45 minutes

  • Adjustments noted and incorporated

STEP 5: Second Fitting - Refinement Phase

Timeline: Week 5-6

  • Dress is 75-80% complete

  • What happens:

    • Try on nearly finished piece

    • Final fit adjustments (taking in, letting out, hemming)

    • Embellishments are being added or finalized

    • Ensure comfort and movement

  • Duration: 30-45 minutes

  • Final tweaks made

STEP 6: Final Fitting & Pickup

Timeline: Week 7-8 (or per agreed timeline)

  • Your completed custom piece is ready!

  • What happens:

    • Final try-on to ensure perfection

    • Styling consultation and tips

    • Care instructions provided

    • Photo documentation (with your permission)

    • Pay remaining balance

  • Take your dress home and be ASTONISHING!

STEP 7: Post-Event Follow-Up

  • Share photos from your event (we love to see you shine!)

  • Minor adjustments or steaming available within 2 weeks if needed

  • Leave a review or testimonial
